Get children vaccinated by end of May, parents urged

SEBUYAU: Parents have been urged to get their children vaccinated by the end of May.

“The Ministry of Health (MoH) before this has offered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to children from five to 11 years old until today, which is May 16, but we are thankful that the date has been extended until the end of this month,” said Batang Lupar MP Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim.

“Getting the vaccine will not only be beneficial for them, but also they will be able to protect their families and communities, thus avoiding community clusters,” she said during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri programme at Dewan Pembangunan Sebuyau on Monday (May 16).

Meanwhile, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said the final deadline of registration and booking for vaccination appointment through the MySejahtera app on May 8 would remain and no bookings would be accepted after the date.

Apart from that, from May 16 to 31, the first dose of vaccination for children aged five to 11 would be given at MoH clinics via walk-in.

Dr Noor Azmi also said that parents who had registered before May 8 but had not received any appointment link were encouraged to bring their children to any MoH clinic for walk-in vaccination – at least until May 31.

On another note, Rohani urged the Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, and other related authorities, to hasten the telecommunication projects statewide. “Folk who live in rural areas still faced coverage issue and weak connectivity.”
