PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 44 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, up from 33 previously.
The death toll stands at 34,983.
According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 18,560 new cases, compared with 15,941 a day before. They comprised 15,373 local cases and 187 imported cases.
Of the 44 deaths, eight were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.
Perak recorded 12 deaths, followed by Selangor (11), Johor (6), Sarawak (5), Penang (3), Kelantan, Sabah and Terengganu (2 each) and Negeri Sembilan (1).
There were no deaths in Kedah, Pahang, Perlis and the federal territories.
As of midnight, there were 206,854 active cases, with 4,521 hospitalised. Of this, 267 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 164 requiring respiratory assistance.
There were 18,253 recoveries reported.
The total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4,201,919.
