64 Covid-19 deaths, new cases up to 15,215

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 64 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, up from 54 previously.

This marks the third consecutive day the number of casualties has increased.

The death toll stands at 34,906.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 15,215 new cases, up from 13,336 a day before. They comprised 14,965 local cases and 250 imported cases.

Of the 64 deaths, 14 were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Perak recorded the most number of fatalities with 20, followed by Kedah (8), Selangor (7), Penang (6), Johor (5), Sarawak and Negeri Sembilan (4 each), Kelantan (3), Pahang , Sabah and Melaka (2 each) and Terengganu (1).

There were no deaths in Perlis, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 236,023 active cases, with 4,843 hospitalised. Of this, 282 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 176 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were 24,154 recoveries reported.

The total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4,167,418.
