71 Covid-19 deaths, 19,105 new cases

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 71 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, down from 85 previously.

The death toll stands at 34,400.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 19,105 new cases, compared with 22,341 the day before. They comprise 18,719 local cases and 386 imported cases.

Of the 71 deaths, 26 were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases

Kedah and Perak reported 14 deaths each, followed by Johor (11), Selangor (7), Kelantan, Penang and Sarawak (5 each), Negeri Sembilan (4), Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur (2 each) and Melaka and Pahang (1 each).

No deaths were reported in Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 274,059 active cases, with 7,080 hospitalised. Of this, 371 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 203 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were also 28,250 recoveries recorded.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 3,993,124.
