87 Covid-19 deaths, 22,535 new cases

Twenty-five of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead cases.

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 87 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, up from 77 previously.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 22,535 new cases, compared with 26,250 a day before. They comprised 22,174 local cases and 361 imported cases.

The death toll now stands at 33,807.

Of the 87 deaths, 25 were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Johor recorded the most deaths with 22, followed by Selangor (18), Perak (10), Penang and Kuala Lumpur (6 each), Pahang (5), Kelantan and Kedah (4 each), Terengganu, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan (3 each), Sarawak (2), Sabah (1),

There were no deaths reported in Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 320,876 active cases, with 8,704 people hospitalised. Of this, 384 were in intensive care units (ICU), 222 of whom required respiratory assistance.

There were also 25,356 recoveries recorded.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 3,823,571.
