78 Covid-19 deaths, 25,854 new cases

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 78 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, according to its GitHub database, up from 75 previously.

The ministry also reported 25,854 new cases, comprising 25,406 local and 448 imported cases.

The death toll now stands at 32,827.

Thirty-four of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Johor recorded the most deaths with 21. This was followed by Kedah (15), Selangor (13), Perak (9), Sabah (6), Penang (5), Kelantan, Melaka and Terengganu (2 each), Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).

There were no deaths in Perlis, Sarawak, Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 293,651 active cases, with 7,542 hospitalised. Of this, 374 were in intensive care units (ICU), 213 of whom required respiratory assistance.

There were also 25,548 recoveries.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 3,468,590.
