Singapore’s Covid-19 Cases Double to Record 19,420

PETALING JAYA: Singapore reported a record high 19,420 Covid-19 cases yesterday, more than double the 9,082 infections recorded on Monday.

Singapore’s The Straits Times reported that the 19,420 infections comprised 19,179 local cases, of which 16,102 were detected via RTK-antigen test kits.

This meant that they were asymptomatic or only had mild symptoms.

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 497,997.

Seven people had also died of Covid-19 in the city-state yesterday, bringing the death toll to 913.

A total of 1,355 Covid-19 patients were hospitalised as of yesterday, with 140 of them requiring oxygen support and 23 undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

About 94% of the population eligible to be vaccinated have already been fully immunised against the virus, while 64% of the total population have received their booster jab.
