GEORGE TOWN: Covid-19 vaccinations for children aged five to 11 at the two special vaccination centres (PPV) in Penang starting Monday (Feb 7) is only for those with comorbidities and in the high risk group, says state health committee chairman Dr Norlela Ariffin.
However, she said children not in the high-risk category can be vaccinated at dates to be announced later, either at clinics or their respective schools under the management of the Public Health division.
She said the vaccination exercise for children aged five to 11 years old will be conducted at special vaccination centres in Seberang Jaya Hospital and Penang Hospital from Monday (Feb 7).
“Only these two hospitals in Penang are involved in the programme,” said Dr Norlela Ariffin.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) was implemented simultaneously nationwide on Thursday (Feb 3) for children with comorbidities and low immune resistance.
