Vietnam reports 14,591 Covid-19 Cases on Monday (Dec 6), Highest Since Early September; Infection Total Now at 1,323,683

HANOI, Dec 6 (Vietnam News/ANN): Vietnam’s Covid-19 caseload continues to rise with 14,591 new infections announced on Monday, along with 223 deaths.

This is the highest number of new cases recorded in a day since September 3.

The national tally now stands at 1,323,683 transmissions, of which 1,318,381 came in the fourth wave of infections that has swept the country since late April.

Out of Monday’s 14,591 new confirmed cases, 14,558 were locally transmitted and 33 imported, according to the Ministry of Health.

Most of the community cases were reported in southern localities, including 1,189 in Can Tho region, 1,174 in Ho Chi Minh City and 859 in Tay Ninh province.

Nearly 128 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including more than 54.4 million second shots, have been administered in the Southeast Asian country, according to the ministry.

As of Monday, the country has registered over 1.3 million locally transmitted Covid-19 cases since the start of the current wave of coronavirus infections in late April, the ministry said.

Over 54.4 million people in Vietnam have now been fully inoculated, while nearly 73.4 million people have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine. – Vietnam News/ANN
