23 Covid-19 Clusters Detected, 11 at Workplaces

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has detected 23 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

In a statement, he said 11 were workplace clusters, eight were community clusters, two were linked to high-risk groups, and one each to a detention centre and education institute.

The clusters were detected in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang, Kelantan, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak.

Sarawak

  • Kampung Quop: a community cluster. It involves Kuching. The index case was detected on July 14. 50 screened, 19 positive.
  • Kandis pantu: a community cluster linked to a social activity. It involves Sri Aman. The index case was detected on Aug 1. Nine screened, six positive.

Penang

  • Jalan Ong Yi How: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Seberang Perai Utara. The index case was detected on July 31. 37 screened, 20 positive.

Melaka

  • Industri Tanjung Bruas: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Melaka Tengah. 200 screened, 99 positive.

Kelantan

  • Pagar Pasir Puteh: a cluster linked to a detention centre. It involves Pasir Puteh. The index case was detected on July 24. 16 screened, 12 positive.
  • Kampung Jelutong Gunong: a community cluster. It involves Bachok. The index case was detected on July 29. 51 screened, 16 positive.
  • Industri Jalan Padang Tembak 2: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Kota Bharu. The index case was detected on July 24. 41 screened, 24 positive.
  • Industri Jalan Tunjong: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Kota Bharu, Machang and Tumpat. The index case was detected on July 29. 15 screened, six positive.
  • Jalan Sultan Ibrahim: a community cluster. It involves Kota Bharu. The index case was detected on July 23. 20 screened, eight positive.
  • Kampung Tok Junuh Mahligai: a community cluster. It involves Bachok. The index case was detected on July 29. 28 screened, 13 positive.

Selangor

  • Jalan Sejahtera Lapan: a cluster linked to a high-risk group in a haemodialysis centre. It involves Klang. 23 screened, five positive.
  • Jalan Maktab 2: a cluster linked to the education sector. It involves Sepang and Hulu Langat. 42 screened, 25 positive.
  • Gerachi: a community cluster. It involves Hulu Selangor. The index case was detected on July 21. 44 screened, 29 positive.
  • Miel Batang Kali: a workplace cluster linked to a service company. It involves Hulu Selangor. 108 screened, 22 positive.

Johor

  • Jalan Tembaga Dua: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Johor Bahru. The index case was detected on July 31. 303 screened, 13 positive.
  • Jalan Bertam Lima: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Johor Bahru. The index case was detected on July 25. 73 screened, 16 positive.
  • Industri Jalan Gemilang Kluang: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Kluang. The index case was detected on July 26. 89 screened, 24 positive.
  • Jalan Angkasa Mas Utama: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Johor Bahru. The index case was detected on July 28. 127 screened, 14 positive.
  • Industri Tanjung Kulai: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Kulai. The index case was detected on July 27. 101 screened, 13 positive.

Sabah

  • Tembidong Bidong: a community cluster linked to visiting activities during the festive season. It involves Telupid and Beluran. The index case was detected on July 21. 292 screened, 88 positive.
  • Jalan Patikang Ulu: a community cluster. It involves Keningau. The index case was detected on July 26. 24 screened, 17 positive.

Kuala Lumpur

  • Jalan Kerayong: a cluster linked to a high-risk group in a care home. It involves Cheras. 50 screened, 47 positive.
  • Jalan Impian Indah construction site: a workplace cluster linked to construction workers. It involves Lembah Pantai. 771 screened, 428 positive.
