Covid-19: Brunei Announces No Local Cases For 423 Days; Total Cases Stands At A Mere 262

BANADAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 4 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei recorded only one new imported Covid-19 case on Saturday night (July 3) raising the national tally of confirmed cases to 262.Case 262 is a 48-year-old woman who arrived from Indonesia on June 27.

She begins experiencing symptoms of cough, headache and high fever on July 1. Contact tracing found 23 close contacts.Meanwhile, nine active Covid-19 cases are receiving treatment at National Isolation Centre (NIC) in Tutong District.

The country recorded no local transmissions of the virus for 423 days. Some 747 individuals are undergoing mandatory self-isolation at government monitoring centres after arriving from abroad while 21,032 have completed their stint since March 2020.

The Ministry of Health obtained 483 samples for testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the past 24 hours and carried out 142,228 tests since January 2020.

Brunei enters phase three of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme tomorrow which is for those aged 18 and above. Bookings through the BruHealth app opened yesterday at 8pm.

As of Saturday night, 87,792 individuals were vaccinated against Covid-19 in Brunei. Some 72,680 individuals received the first dose and 15,112 the second dose. – Borneo Bulletion/ANN
