Around 3,000 People In Samarahan Completed Covid-19 Vaccination – PPV Leader

KUCHING (June 13): Around 3,000 people in Samarahan have completed their Covid-19 vaccinations as of yesterday, said Kota Samarahan Civic Centre Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) leader Dr Muhammad Yusree.

“The complete data on the number of dose 1 and dose 2 recipients has yet to be updated, but roughly around 3,000 Samarahan folk have completed their vaccinations,” he said when met at the centre yesterday.

According to him, among the challenges faced at the vaccination centre was crowd control as some recipients were accompanied by their family.

Dr Muhammad Yusree said the vaccination centre operates daily from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

He said after operating for a month and a half, there has been no issue of ‘going over the time’ at the vaccination centre, except for one day when they had to open until 7pm because they had to wait for a replacement.

“Based on that time frame, our maximum capacity is 600 recipients, and it will be increased to 1,000 per day starting next week (this week).”

He said the public’s response to the immunisation programme has been great, although there were a few who wanted to choose their vaccine.

The vaccination centre administers two types of vaccines, Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinovac which is scheduled for different days.

“For example, if the vaccine for the day is Pfizer-BioNTech, we might get request for Sinovac and vice versa,” he said.

Dr Muhammad Yusree said when this happens, the medical personnel there would offer counselling to the person to get them to accept the vaccine of the day, and if they still refuse, then they would have to change their appointment date via MySejahtera app and try their luck on another day.

He explained that they could not promise a specific vaccine to anyone because the the vaccine that is supplied depended on the supply by the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) and State Health Department.

Besides that, he said the vaccines are distributed by the State Health Department based on a schedule.
