Covid-19: 8,209 New Cases Reported, More Than 3,000 In Selangor


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 8,209 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (June 3), bringing the total number of cases reported since the pandemic began to 595,374 cases.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor continued to have the most cases with 3,125 infection reported.

In a tweet Thursday, Dr Noor Hisham said this was followed by Kuala Lumpur with 801 cases, Johor (752), Sarawak (594) and Negri Sembilan (576).

Perlis is the only territory in Malaysia to record single digit figures, with five new Covid-19 cases.

In the same 24-hour period, there were 103 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 3,096.

There were also 7,049 recoveries, which means 508,947 have recovered from the disease nationwide.

There are still 880 patients in intensive care units, with 446 requiring ventilation support.
