Indonesia receives second batch of Covid-19 vaccines from COVAX Facility

JAKARTA, April 27 (Xinhua): A total of 3.85 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from multilateral cooperation with the COVAX Facility initiated by the World Health Organisation (WHO), has arrived at Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport, an official source has confirmed.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said these vaccines were produced by British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

“This is the second batch of vaccines arriving from the multilateral COVAX Facility,” said Marsudi.

The first batch of 1.11 million doses arrived on March 3.

So far, the total amount of Covid-19 vaccines that Indonesia has received, either through multilateral or bilateral cooperation with China, is 67.46 million doses, Marsudi added.

Indonesia started the Covid-19 vaccination in January, aiming to inoculate 181.5 million people until next year. – Xinhua
