PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 2,690 Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,853 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 367,753.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 392,942.
There are 23,753 active cases, with 283 patients being treated in intensive care and 121 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 10 deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,436.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 751. This was followed by Sarawak (595), Kelantan (424), Kuala Lumpur (217), Johor (159), Sabah (121), Penang (117), Kedah (76), Perak (64), Negeri Sembilan (57), Melaka (42), Pahang (33), Terengganu (25), Putrajaya (5), Labuan (3) and Perlis (1).
The new cases today involved 2,680 local infections and 10 imported cases. Local cases comprised 2,397 Malaysians and 283 foreigners.
There were 18 cases from prisons today, namely the Pagar Sri Lalang (15) and Tembok Pengkalan Chepa (3) clusters.
The 10 deaths today were all Malaysians, aged between 60 and 91. All of them had existing medical conditions.
