Covid-19: SJK(C) Yuk Chai among 19 schools ordered to close in Petaling district

PETALING JAYA: SJK(C) Yuk Chai is the latest school that has been ordered to close by the district health office beginning Tuesday (April 20) following a Covid-19 case.

Its headmaster Chew Hock Jin said the closure will allow sanitation and screening of close contacts.

“During the closing period, the home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) will be implemented.

“The date of implementation will be announced by respective class teachers via the WhatsApp group,” said Chew in a statement on Monday (April 19).

The school is among 19 schools that has been ordered to close temporarily by the Petaling district health office.

Chew added that the date of reopening of schools will be informed by the school management as soon as it receives the latest information from the district health office.

In a separate statement, the Petaling health district office said a total of 19 schools were ordered to close temporarily from April 20.

“This will allow sanitation works and screening of close contacts at the premises.

“The schools will be notified two days before being allowed to reopen, ” it said, adding that the move comes under Section 18(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

Other schools affected are SAM Bestari Subang, SMK Bukit Jelutong, SK Puchong Perdana, SK Bandar Baru Sri Damansara 2, SK Bukit Kuchai, SMK Bandar Sri Damansara 2, SK Bandar Sri Damansara 3, SMK Damansara Jaya and SK Bukit Jelutong.

It also includes, SMK Seksyen 7, SK USJ 20, SMK USJ 23, SMK Puchong, SMK Puchong Utama 1, SMK Seksyen 4 Bandar Kinrara, SMK Bandar Puncak Jalil, SMK Seksyen 20, and SMK Puchong Perdana.
