“The case was coughing and had fever for a few days before he was admitted in Sibu Hospital on March 6, 2021. While warded, his health deteriorated and he passed away on March 31, 2021,” said SDMC, adding that the deceased had gout.

“The 117 are people who were identified as close contacts of Covid-19 cases,” it said.

In a further breakdown, it said 100 cases, including 16 with symptoms, were detected through screening of close contacts, 47 through individual screening in connection with active clusters, 17 via screening of individuals with symptoms at health facilities, and 12 were asymptomatic people who had undergone tests for the virus.

The state today has 2,840 active Covid-19 cases who are still undergoing isolation and treatment at Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC) and hospitals, and 180 new persons under investigation (PUI) who are awaiting their tests results.
