Covid-19: MCA has Helped 30,000 Register for Vaccination Through Various Programmes, Says Dr Wee

YONG PENG: MCA has helped about 30,000 people nationwide to register for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said that its divisions have conducted about 300 programmes throughout the country to disseminate the correct information about the vaccination and assist the public with their registrations.

He said that those assisting the public at the counters have been briefed on the Health Ministry’s guidelines and standard operating procedures for the vaccination, side effects and eligibility in order to provide the right information to the public.

“Other than the MCA service centres, we are also reaching out to the public through our mobile counters set up at places of interest such as food courts.

“This is especially helpful to those who are not as tech-savvy and those who have difficulties with language as a majority of those who sought help were senior citizens.

“We usually have multi-racial staff and volunteers available at both the service centres and mobile counters.

“So if those who seek help can only communicate in Chinese dialects like Hokkien, Cantonese and Hakka, or just Bahasa Malaysia, we are able to assist, ” he said after visiting the Covid-19 vaccination awareness programme in Taman Kota here on Sunday (March 21).

Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, added that his service centre has helped about 2,000 people in Yong Peng through six programmes to register for the vaccination programme.

He added that more of such awareness programmes would be held nationwide to assist more people.
