PTPTN Loan Repayment Moratorium Extended By Another 3 Months

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has extended the deferment of National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan repayments by another three months to eligible borrowers.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the decision was taken as many PTPTN borrowers are still affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and unable to make repayments.

“Borrowers who are affected can submit an application through PTPTN’s official portal between Jan 5 and March 31.

“The deferral of repayment will take effect from the month the application is approved. PTPTN will provide further details on how the extension of the loan repayment will be implemented.

“The ministry hopes this announcement will ease the burden of borrowers,” she said in a statement today.

Earlier, the government announced a deferment of loan repayment for all PTPTN borrowers due to the Covid-19 pandemic, effective March 19, 2020 to Dec 31, 2020.

PTPTN borrowers can contact the corporation’s careline at 03-2193 3000, which operates from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, for further enquiries.
