Covid-19: 11 New Clusters Identified on Saturday (Dec 26)

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has identified eleven new Covid-19 clusters in the country on Saturday (Dec 26), including at a construction site in Kuala Lumpur, two factories in Selangor and a mall in Kuantan, Pahang.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said among the clusters is the Tapak Bina Jalan Seng cluster, that had recorded a total of 232 new Covid-19 cases there.

“This cluster involves the district of Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur. The cases in this cluster had started on Dec 25.

“As of Dec 26, a total of 407 individuals had been screened where 232 of them had been confirmed positive in this cluster,” he said.

Another one is the Plastik Subang cluster, which had recorded a total of 111 Covid-19 cases, he said.

“For this cluster, it involves the district of Petaling and Klang, in Selangor. A total of 345 people were screened and 111 had tested positive,” he added.

Dr. Noor Hisham also noted the Jalan Asam cluster had recorded a total of 13 new positive cases.

“This cluster involves the district of Petaling and Klang in Selangor. The positive cases for this cluster had started on Dec 19 through a targeted screening at a factory,” he said, adding that 713 individuals were screened in the cluster.

For the Semambu cluster, he said that it involves the district of Kuantan, Pahang, where the index case was working at a mall and had tested positive on Dec 17.

“A total of 47 individuals were screened and 11 had tested positive,” added Dr. Noor Hisham.

The other two new clusters were found in Kelantan, which had been identified as the Halban cluster and the Seragam Chepa cluster.

Dr. Noor Hisham also announced that 268 clusters have been declared as closed, after recording zero cases for 28 days straight.

Currently, there are 215 active clusters nationwide.
