KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry recorded 1,153 new Covid-19 cases today, albeit a slight decrease from 1,683 cases logged yesterday.
The new figures bring the tally of infections to 91,969, including 15,294 active cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases, only two were imported.
He said Selangor remained as the state with the highest number of new cases at 401 or 34.8 per cent of the total, followed by Kuala Lumpur (281 or 24.4 per cent) and Sabah (199 or 17.3 per cent).
“A total of 176 cases (15.3 per cent) reported were related to clusters in prisons and immigration detention depots involving the Jalan Harapan Prison cluster (96 cases) and Tembok cluster (80),” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, he said only one death was recorded today, bringing the total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 to 433 (0.47 per cent).
“A total of 112 patients are currently being treated in the intensive care units, with 56 requiring ventilator support.”
Dr Noor Hisham added that 998 patients have been discharged, adding to the cumulative total recoveries to 76,242 cases (82.9 per cent).
