JOHOR BARU: The Johor Health Department has so far carried out a total of 1,170 Covid-19 tests on individuals connected to the Jeri cluster in Kota Tinggi, Mersing and Muar.
State health and environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan (pic) said from the figure, a total of 26 positive cases have been recorded as of Sunday (Nov 15).
He added that 535 cases were negative and 609 are still waiting for their test results.
“Johor recorded nine new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, with three coming from the Jeri cluster, one severe acute respiratory infection (Sari) case and five from other screenings,” he said in a statement here on Monday (Nov 16).
Vidyananthan stressed that the state Health Department was still conducting screenings from the Jeri cluster.
“The index case for this cluster was identified during a screening test at the Singapore international entry point on Nov 6.
“All close contacts in Malaysia who were positive for Covid-19, have been referred to the Enche’Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang,” he said.
He added that this brings the number of active clusters in Johor to five, including the Meldrum, Bayu, Kempas and Padang clusters.
Vidyananthan said there were now 994 cases and 21 deaths in the state, with 897 recoveries and 76 cases still active, which have been isolated and receiving treatment at hospital.
