KUALA LUMPUR: A student from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Gombak campus was tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.
In a statement issued by IIUM and posted on its social media accounts, it said the student was found to have the coronavirus after a regular screening procedure held at the university.
“The student was immediately taken to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
“The situation in the university is currently under control and we collectively continue to undertake necessary preventive and precautionary measures as issued by the Health Ministry and the National Security Council.
“Among the taken measures to ensure the safety of the IIUM community are identifying and isolating those who are in close contact, conducting contact tracing and sanitising the affected premises,” it said.
It said one of the campus blocks, Mahallah Ali (Block A), has been closed since Friday for contact tracing and disinfecting procedures.
It also said students at the block were not allowed to leave until further notice.
