PETALING JAYA: A new Covid-19 cluster has been found in Sabah, according to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“The ministry would like to inform that a new cluster has been identified in Semporna, Sabah. The index case is a Filipino woman (case 10,145), which was the 129th fatal case.
“Close contact screening was conducted and two Covid-19 cases were found from this Bakau cluster. The two are a Malaysian and a Filipino who have been admitted to the Tawau hospital for treatment,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Sept 19).
A total of 109 people have been screened, with 106 still waiting for their results.
“Sanitation and disinfection efforts have been conducted at the Semporna hospital, and the cause of the infection is still under investigation,” he said.
On updates of other active clusters, he said that the Sungai cluster recorded eight new cases, whereas only one addition was reported from the Benteng LD (Lahad Datu) cluster.
