Covid-19 Update: 43 New Cases, 1 New Death Bringing Total Fatality to 120

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 43 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday (June 13), bringing the total number of infections to 8,445.
Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases, five were imported cases, and 38 involved local transmission.
The bulk of local transmission involved non-citizens (23), while the rest were locals.
At a press conference Saturday, Dr Noor Hisham also said 143 patients had recovered and discharged.
So far, a total of 7,311 patients have been discharged, accounting for 86.5% of the total number of cases.
Malaysia also recorded one death on Friday (June 12), bringing the total number to 120.
It involved a 96-year-old Malaysian woman, who died at home and later tested positive for Covid-19 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah.
The authorities are still investigating the source of infection and are actively tracing close contacts.
