Markets Allowed to Operate Nationwide from June 15, Once SOP Issued [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The government allowed the resumption of night markets, wet markets, bazaars, and car boot sales nationwide.

Senior Minister (security cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Federal Territory Ministry only presented standard operating procedures (SOPs) yesterday.

He, however, said the local authorities were allowed to modify the SOP to suit their respective locality’s needs.

“We have agreed with the SOP and the requested date, which is June 15.

“When the announcement for the night market and the morning market can start operating, it was meant for the whole country including the likes of car boot sales.

“The SOPs in smaller towns may be different from cities such as Kuala Lumpur and the local authorities or PBT can adapt it to their respective local authorities,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

On tax exemptions for companies that carry out regular sanitation operations, Ismail said there was no discussion on subsidies or tax exemptions for such firms yet.

“So far, it has not been discussed. It will be discussed at the meeting as subsidies and tax exemptions under the Finance Ministry,” he said.
